I fell in love with tattoos as a child. The self-expression and beauty of ink in the skin fascinated me. Without tattoos in my household growing up, I often found myself staring and studying tattoos whenever I was able to. I was allowed the challenge and opportunity to use Instagram and social media platforms to further my studies and obsession with ink. In college I found a new fascination in the history of art. I gained respect for artists who came before me, the art that inspires tattoos and the culture of tattoos that far extends beyond Western American "Old School" standards. Tattoos have a longer history than recorded texts. Medicinal, religious, and spiritual meanings are often infused within the tattoo process. At Morning Star, I have created a safe and intentional space for all people, cultures, points of view, gender representation, personal preference, religions, and past history. There is absolutely no room for discrimination or hate in this space.

My desire to create Morning Star Studio was also my desire to feel safe and secure as an artist. I create my art for others to feel something. I want my clients to connect with their tattoos, not just as beautiful art but art that is connected to a safe and happy experience. There is a community of individuals in SE Minnesota especially who are longing for an intentful, beautiful, welcoming tattoo studio.
